First year chemistry students with various science and engineering majors are not aware of the correct names of volumetric glassware. Not only are they unaware of the correct names of the glassware, they are unable to determine which piece of glassware is appropriate for the task at hand. This lab activity helps students determine the most appropriate piece of glassware for the task. Data table are constructed and the data analyzed by the students for both the accuracy and the precision of glassware. The aliquot measured with an analytical balance is used as a reference. The results of a pre and post test will be discussed in presentation.
