Message from the Organizers The Philadelphia Section of the American Chemical Society is pleased to host the 39th Middle Atlantic Regional Meeting on May 15th to 19th on the campus of Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. Here is an opportunity to renew acquaintances or meet new colleagues and enjoy the opportunity to network with your peers. We invite you to learn about the latest research or present your own work, participate in workshops to hone your skills or improve your career and job opportunities, and celebrate the accomplishments of fellow chemists in your region. Whatever the reason, we hope to see you at MARM'07. The programming for this MARM emphasizes the various synergies among the chemical disciplines. In "forging new connections in chemistry", we have planned symposia in medicinal chemistry, green chemistry, alternative energy, carbon and magnetic nanomaterials, orphan drugs and venture capital, biotechnology / bioprocessing, ADME / tox as well as general sessions in the traditional areas of chemistry. We will celebrate the achievements of colleagues in two Cope Award Symposia, the Industrial Innovation Award Symposium, the High School Teaching Award, and in the Delaware Valley Chromatography Forum Student Awards Symposium. Programs for teachers include workshops and sessions on forensic chemistry. We hope to provide diverse opportunities for chemical professionals, educators, and students to learn about the latest advances in these emerging areas as well as recent advances in their current field of expertise. Additional sessions in the planning stages include leadership training workshops, career development sessions, microwave synthesis symposia, environmental safety sessions, and high school teacher workshops. We hope that you will plan on attending the 39th MARM. Ursinus College, a highly selective liberal arts college, is located just 25 miles from Philadelphia and can be easily reached from points throughout the mid-atlantic region. The suburban 170-acre campus is a short ride from Valley Forge National Park and the King of Prussia shopping area. The MARM will be centered in Pfahler Hall of Science, the home to the College's Chemistry Department. We look forward to greeting you at the 39th Middle Atlantic Regional Meeting. |
