Hershey Local Area InformationMARM 2006 provided the opportunity to discover the MARM region’s excellence in chemistry and it provides and opportunity to bring the whole family for fun and excitement. Probably the first thing that comes to mind when someone says Hershey, PA is CHOCOLATE! You certainly can buy a lot of chocolate in Hershey. While in Hershey do not forget to visit HERSHEY'S CHOCOLATE WORLD where you can experience a chocolate manufacturing line and HERSHEY'S Really Big 3D Show. A close second to HERSHEY'S chocolate is HERSHEY PARK. If you feel the need for speed you can ride roller coasters like the GREAT BEAR or the STORM RUNNER or if a slower pace is more your style there are plenty of family rides like the Ferris wheel, Kissing Tower or take a monorail around the park. While at HERSHEY PARK make sure that you stop at ZOO AMERICA where you can learn about animals from across the North American Continent. Is that a set of golf clubs that I see? Make sure that you bring them along to the meeting so that you can try out Hershey’s challenging links. Unfortunately, in June the HERSHEY BEARS will not be playing hockey but this page will be updated with the sports and concert events that will be taking place at the GIANT Center in early June of 2006. Do you enjoy eating? Well, make sure you check out all of the great dining opportunities! For those of you who like to shop till you drop there are plenty of bargains at the Hershey Outlets and shops. If all of the activity gets to you, slow down and enjoy the Massage Therapy or a Whipped Cocoa Bath at The Spa At THE HOTEL HERSHEY As if there were not enough to do in Hershey it is just a short drive to Harrisburg or to Lancaster. Harrisburg is home of the Pennsylvania State Capitol which soon will be 100 years old! Harrisburg is the home of two very nice museums The State Museum and the National Civil War Museum, the Whitaker Center for the Science and Arts. Let’s not forget the Appalachian Brewing Company for dining and one of the best micro breweries in the area. Lancaster is well known for its population of plain people or Pennsylvania Dutch, another popular term. There are many small museums located in Lancaster County, such as the Demuth Museum and Garden, the North Museum of Natural History of Science and the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania just to name a few. Dutch Apple Theatre, Lancaster Opera Company and Sight and Sound are just a few of the Performing Arts Centers in Lancaster County. What’s that? You did not get enough shopping? Make sure that you visit the Tanger Outlet Center or Rockvale Square Outlets just east of Lancaster on Route 30.
